SUPER STREET RULES
AMMENDED RULES AS OF December 1, 2009.
ANYTHING NOT SPECIFIED IN THESE RULES WILL REVERT BACK TO STOCK (AS IN PARTS OR LOCATION, ETC.) IF IN QUESTION, CHECK WITH THE JMS TECH MAN BEFORE RUNNING.
MINIMUM WEIGHT 3000 POUNDS WITH DRIVER AFTER THE RACE. WEIGHT WILL BE 9 POUNDS PER CUBIC INCH. CUBIC INCH MUST BE ON THE HOOD.
BODY
- Stock production body only. Hoods may be gutted.
- CID must be displayed on hood at all times. Minimum weight 3000 Ibs. 9 Ibs per cubic inch.
- Firewall may be altered for distributor clearance, if necessary.
- No engine set back or offset. # 1 spark plug must be even with upper ball joint + or – I inch. No cut out holes in firewall.
- Metal dash allowed.
- Air cleaner hole allowed in hood.
- Any bars necessary to insure rigid frame and radiator protection will be permitted behind front and rear bumpers.
- 101″ minimum wheel base. (+ / – 1″) No more than 1″ total difference between left and right side, not 1″ per side. No compacts. Pick-ups are allowed. Front inner panels optional.
- Trunk lid may be gutted.
- After market nose piece allowed.
- Sheet metal or aluminum doors allowed 22 or 24 gauge only and must have stock bodylines.
- Stop sign post material allowed between front and rear fenders on side of body to protect sheet metal and paint jobs.
- Front and rear firewalls must be in stock location.
- Factory spoilers or sheet metal spoilers no more than 4″ taller than the rear edge of the trunk lid, and no wider than rear of car.
- Stock unaltered floor pan.
- Front fender wells and hood lining may be removed. Doors may be gutted.
- The drivers seat must be in front of the leading edge of the door. The door must be in the stock location. This rule applies to two and four door cars.
- All general and safety rules apply.
- Performance bodies allowed. Must maintain street stock style appearance.
FRAME
- Must be GM body on GM car, Ford body on Ford car and Chrysler body on Chrysler car.
- Unibodies must connect front and rear with tubing, and may use roll cage to strengthen frame, as long as bars do not extend outside of body.
- Late model cars must use late model frames.
FUEL SYSTEM
- No electric fuel pumps allowed.
- Fuel cells required.
- Fuel will be gasoline only, no alcohol and no additives. No octane boosters.
- Fuel cells may be relocated for safety.
SEATS
- Racing type seats required.
- The seats will be securely fastened.
SEAT BELTS
- Quick release belt no less than 3″ wide is mandatory.
- No more than 4 years old.
- Shoulder harness mandatory. This harness must be mounted in at least 5 points below driver’s shoulders.
- Both ends of the belt must be securely fastened to roll cage with quality bolts no less than 3\8″ in diameter.
- Belts shall come from behind the driver.
ENGINE: OPTION # 1
- Dished or flat top pistons only. Must be GM in GM, Ford in Ford etc.
- No crossbreeding of parts.
- Any steel rod.
- ***D.U.I. distributors are allowed. HEI Distributors with MSD module (Part No. 83645) are also legal for use.
- Over frame headers allowed. Street style only 1 3/4″ max. Any cast or aluminum 2-barrel or 4-barrel intake.
- No roller cams, no roller lifters, ROLLER ROCKERS ARE NOW ALLOWED. No stud girdles.
- Holley 4412 carburetor unaltered. Choke flap can be removed. Maximum 2″ spacer and/or adapter only.
- Maximum intake valve 1.94, maximum exhaust valve 1.50.
- ANY cast iron head is allowed. Must maintain 1.94/1.5 maximum valve size and 1.290 maximum diameter valve springs. No porting or polishing allowed.
Exception:
Screw in studs and guideplates are now allowed on any street stock head. Maximum spring size shall be 1.290.
ENGINE: OPTION # 2
- 602 GM sealed crate engine.
- Holley 650cfm 4 barrel carburetor allowed. NO-GO gauge will be in use. No grace period. If carburetor does not pass NO-GO gauge, you will be DQed.
- Maximum 1″ space allowed between carb and intake.
CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE TRAIN:
- Any clutch, pressure plate and flywheel for a car with manual trans.
- Any torque converter for cars with automatic trans. Shift kits are ok.
- Must run drive shaft safety loop on all cars. Must be 5″ to 8″ behind front U joint.
- Drive shaft must be painted white.
- Bert / Brinn / Falcon Transmission allowed
FRONT SUSPENSION
- Must be in stock location as produced by manufacturer.
- Steel shocks only. Shock must be in stock location. Any shock location on right front only.
- Right front upper control arm may be reinforced for safety. AFTER MARKET UPPER CONTROL ARMS ALLOWED. LOWERS MUST REMAIN STOCK. No modification to lower control arms, control arms same on both sides metric/metric, camaro/camaro, GM can run GM, Ford can run Ford, but must be same for both sides.
- ***Three wheel brakes allowed, brake bias optional.
- Springs must be stock type minimum 5″ in diameter. Racing springs allowed.
- Weight jack allowed on RIGHT FRONT ONLY.
- Quick steer ok.
REAR SUSPENSION:
- Stock as produced by the manufacturer, except rear end housing may be replaced with any 5 or 6 lug rear end. NO QUICK CHANGE REAR ENDS ALLOWED.
- Stock suspension and frame must be retained. No heim ends allowed. No rear jack screws allowed. METRIC-lower bars 2 3/4inches down from the axle tube, 41 1/2 inches maximum to inside of lower bar brackets, stock length arms on both sides, arms must be stock type with bushings, no heim ends, and mounted securely on rearend and chassis
- Shocks must be in stock location. Steel shocks only. No adjustable shocks. Heim allowed on shocks. Metric- shocks should be mounted on center of rear drop bars. No add on traction devices, or modifications of any kind.
- Adjustable shackles and racing springs allowed. May use Ford 8″ or 9″ rear end (GM cars included). Coil springs cars are allowed to run adjustable buckets. No sliders on leaf springs. No composite leaf springs.
- Rear end may be locked.
- May use disc brakes.
- Floating axles ok, axle retainers ok.
TIRES AND WHEELS
- Steel bead locks are ok
- 8″ Steel wheels maximum allowed
- Must run Hoosier G-60 tires, H-84 or DOT passenger tires 60 series max. Must have all DOT or Hoosier on car, no mixing.
- No grooving, siping, soaking or use of softening chemicals allowed.
