Byram, MS – For the third year in a row Mother Nature is the winner of a scheduled Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model event at Jackson Motor Speedway. Already wet grounds and more inclement weather forecasted has forced the cancellation of Saturday nights planned $12,000 to win event. “I think we have the only race that has ever been rained out 4 times in 3 years,” commented track owner Don Cliburn. “March and April are hard months to schedule and successfully produce major events here in the South. We were able to get the race in back in 2012, but since then it has been a battle with Mother Nature.”

The originally scheduled $10,000 to win event for March 27, 2015 was postponed until April 11, 2015 due to inclement weather and the purse was raised to a $12,000 to win event. “I think things were stacking up really nice for this race. Being the largest paying single-day race for Super Late Models ever in the state of Mississippi, the fans were going to be the real winners. We were going to have an absolute awesome field of Super Late Models as well as the support class fields, but unfortunately Mother Nature took the win in all classes. There just isn’t anything we can do about the rain and wet conditions,” commented Brian Jones with Jackson Motor Speedway. The track itself is workable but spectator parking and pit parking are a huge issue. Both areas are in a low-lying area, basically a swamp. There just hasn’t been time for the grounds to dry out. I think it has literally rained 30 of the last 35 days here in Central Mississippi, the latest rain being Monday night where over 2” of rain fell at the track.

Everyone at Jackson Motor Speedway wants to express our sincere appreciation for all the support for this event. We have had some great sponsors that have been more than understanding over the past 3 years as we have tried to get the Lucas race in. Without these sponsors this race couldn’t even be a thought. We want to thank the fans. Hang in there with us; we will get the “big one” in one day at Jackson Motor Speedway. We also want to thank our drivers and competitors and express our sincerest apologies for this race being cancelled yet again.

The owners and staff at Jackson Motor Speedway will once again review our options with Lucas Oil for the 2016 season and see what we can do to bring “big time” super late model racing to Jackson Motor Speedway.
Jackson Motor Speedway’s next scheduled event is May 16 when the I-20 Crate Challenge returns for a $1,000 to win event. Also on the card for May 16th is the Mississippi Street Stock Series who will also be competing in a $1,000 to win event. Open Wheel Modifieds and Factory Stocks will also be in action.
