Jackson Motor Speedway Cajun Sprint Car Event for April 26th Postponed

Byram, MS – Jackson Motor Speedway officials announced today that the scheduled April 26th Cajun Sprint Car event has been postponed due to flood waters still encompassing the Jackson Motor Speedway facility.  Although the flood water has started to recede, the spectator parking, pit parking, and most of the track are still under water.

“It is unfortunate but it is what it is,” commented Brian Jones with Jackson Motor Speedway. “Our hopes were that the flood waters would be gone by now but they are not. At the rate the water is receding it looks as if the water will not be off the property until later next week and we still need to evaluate the damage and get the facility back ready for racing action.”

“I want to personally thank each person that has contacted me offering his/her help to get JMS back ready to race,” commented track owner Don Cliburn. “We are going to just have to wait the water out and when it is gone we will fix what we need to fix and we will once again be back racing at Jackson Motor Speedway.”

Jackson Motor Speedway officials will be meeting in the coming days and evaluating the remainder of the 2014 race schedule and looking at potential dates of adding some great racing events.  Our hopes are to find a good date to reschedule the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models. We will be announcing a make-up date for the Gulf States Modified Series event that was rained out on April 12th as well.

The ownership and staff at Jackson Motor Speedway cannot express their gratitude and appreciation for all the fans, drivers, sponsors, series, and partners support during this time. It is very frustrating but completely out of any of our control.

If all goes well Jackson Motor Speedway will be in action on May 17th when the Mississippi Street Stock Series makes its first of two visits to Jackson Motor Speedway in 2014.
